Ellen DeGeneres set the tone; the evening shimmered with grace, style, levity, raucous hilarity and sizzling spontaneity. Stunning acceptance speeches coated with humility, pride; resonating with class and respect: Lupita Nyong’o eloquence, Matthew McConaughey’s uniqueness, Jared Leto’s poignancy, Cate Blanchett’s, aplomb, Steve McQueen’s tribute to historical heroes. No one topped Darlene Love’s musical acceptance of her award for “20 Feet from Stardom”.
It was a softer, kinder broadcast; DeGeneres with her constant interaction with the audience (Tweeting, ordering pizza, collecting funds) erasing the boundaries between stage, audience and viewers; winners or losers, happiness and fun flourished.
This is the first year that peneflix came close to guessing correctly all seven questions; missing by one, the final count for “12 Years a Slave”. There are winners galore and I congratulate those victors and everyone who entered the contest; you contributed to the depth and excitement of the evening. Number “3” was the magic number for “12 Years of Slave”.
Winners will be contacted this week to claim their prize.
It was indeed a FIVE STAR production.
